what? shane won't be around for season 4?

last season's finale bummed me out so much I pretty much quit the forum. I thought they just about wrecked Shane for me. I'd given up being a Tibette shipper, but I still had Shane. Until the finale when Shane walked out on Carmen.

I just didn't buy it. Shane, whatever her fault, is LOYAL. She's a commitment-phobe, yes but I just don't buy her walking out on her bride like that. How could she face her friends after that, and her friends is all she's got. They tried to justify it with her dad's philandering. But I don't buy that Shane would believe she was doomed to follow her biological father -- a guy she hardly knew, a guy who'd barely been in her life. Shane's just too tough and sensible for that.

I think the WRITERS are commitment-phobes. They're scared of having to write a real relationship. They prefer the storm and stress of dating and endless breakup-and-makeup cycle. They think when a couple marries, or worse, HAPPILY marries, there's no drama left, no story left to tell. So they opted to break up Shane/Carmen, ruining the character in the process.

I'm still going to watch, but the show now breaks my heart, and not in a good way, if you know what I mean.

I agree with barty. I was pissed off with the writers after that episode, too. I think the whole episode was off. They were just trying to create extra drama, and it pulled the characters way off of their usual trajectory.

Does anyone know what has happened to the Q&A Mel posted every other Friday? I thought perhaps there was none on 12/29 because it was Kate's B'day, but it appears that there's none this week either. Kates probably missed out this 2 weekly one cos obviously it was Christmas - her 30th and then New Year. She'll probably pick up the next 2 weekly one.

Just think how lucky we'll feel when the new questions come up.

I hope someone asks Kate what she did for her 'special' Birthday. Knowing Kate - shell probably answer that she went out for a quiet meal.....................or something low key like that ...............*sigh*

But it's shanes loyalty that making her walk away. It's not about a fear of commitment, She reallly loves Carmen and she has no idea how to handle that. Look at her character history, she has been abandanded multiple times by key figures in her life, sex always meant she was loved and wanted, but not in love. That's way she didn't commit it didn't mean anything to her. She actually loves Carmen and believes that she will enevitably screw up and hurt her.
Shane has her own code of ethics. falling in love changed all the rules on her but not her ethics. She doesn't think she can changes, a pre-existing concern underlined by her father infidellity, and doesn't want to hurt Carmen. I think leaving was, in Shane's mind, the right thing to do . And trying to talk to her this season wasn't about getting back together, it was about explaining herself.
If her character rings true, this season she's going to grow up, and step up. Not change, She's already changed she just has to accept it. I think it's a great chance for her, there where always these moments that hinted that even to shane there where more important thing than being a player, I think we are finnaly going to get to see that.

BTW Feel free to ignore all of the above, I blame Anthro

i think Shane needs to stop thinking of other people and start thinking about her self. i mean she left Carmen cause she didn’t want 2 hurt her and instead she end up hurting Carmen and her left. Shane still loves Carmen but I think she scared... we all are!!! maybe she took the next step 2 soon by asking her to marry her but still she was truly happy with Carmen before all the bulshit!!
