Good Luck to all the author's who have progressed to this final stage.
Congratulations goes out to each author who was nominated in the first stage. The nominations process is so rewarding in itself, as it provides each author with an opportunity to see what the readers themselves feel about the stories which have been written.
Whether you received enough nominations to proceed to the final voting stage or not, each of you who has ever written a story for this site, should be proud of the time and effort that you put in to provide pleasurable reading for many. You are all winners in my eyes. I only wish I had enough time to sample very single author that posts for this site.
So, I take this time, to simply wish those making it to the final stage the best of luck, while offering a considerable amount of personal recognition and gratitude to every writer for their contributions, regardless of whether they proceeded to this final round.
Respectfully,

You should vote for me because…. Just kidding!!
I’d like to echo the sentiments of my learned friend above…Hmmm… Learned? Well, she is a friend!
I would also like to wish everyone who’s made it this far the best of luck. This site boasts some incredibly talented writers. I have genuinely been amazed with the quality of so much of what I’ve read. I think there are SO many people here who deserve to have that talent recognized.
I haven’t been a member of this site for very long, I joined in April this year. “The Senator’s Second Chance” was not only my first contribution to this site, it was also the first thing that I had ever written. I can’t begin to tell you how fantastic it was just to have people say nice things about what I’d written and how I‘d written it. To actually be nominated for an award… well…. Blown away doesn’t cover it. I have to say that my reason for submitting a story wasn’t to ‘win an award’, I did it purely to share something I’d written, that I had enjoyed writing, with other people who I thought may appreciate it and enjoy it too. The comments that people took the time to leave over the weeks I was writing were worth more than anything. I also felt very humbled by the fact that some of the authors on here, whose talent and ability I was in awe of, left such complimentary comments after reading. To me, that has meant an awful lot.
I would just like to reiterate that I believe there to be an incredible array of talent on this site. A lot of which, through virtue of the process of ‘awards’ and ‘voting’ won’t be recognised… Well, won’t be ‘visibly’ recognized. To each and every person, who has had the belief in what they’ve written, that they have had experience, humour, imagination, fantasy or creativity to share or the conviction that they had a story to tell and have had the courage and desire to post it here DO NOT be disappointed or discouraged by not ‘winning’. It’s very difficult, despite just having the desire to write, to not get caught up in looking at the number of ‘hits’ your story has had; I felt a bit discouraged at one point because I noticed that my story wasn’t really getting that many ‘views’ as others on the site. Someone I have a huge amount of respect for, as a writer and a person, said “I would much rather a smaller amount of readers read my stories and gain something from it than to have a large number who really don't grasp a thing.”
So, regardless of whether you are ‘an award winner‘, whether you have 2 readers or 2,000, you should indeed be proud of your contribution to this site and the enjoyment that you’ve provided those who’ve read your story.
I do hope that we see some new names in the final ‘winning’ list, if only to encourage new blood, new talent and continued interest from new writers onto the site.
Take care and good luck to everyone.

|
|
I came back in to just simply EDIT my original message, because of course I had something else to say. LOL!!! Really? Me? Noooooo. However, where Annabel had already come in and wrote something, I felt it was better to probably just add a new message, rather than edit that one.
Anyway, what I want the author's who are voting to know, is that I am REMOVING my name from one of the categories, and that is the Non-Traditional Storyline/Pairing category. I have honestly contemplated this with much thought, and I have come to the very same conclusion each time.
I feel I owe it to the readers who nominated me and explain what brought me to doing so. I am a firm believer in the idea of "sharing the wealth" when it comes to awards. I have been awarded "seven" placed in the different categories, and I am completely humbled by just that alone. I have won a total of three awards since joining the site, and when I look at this one category, I see so fair amount new names there who have never had the chance to receive an award. In removing my name, I understand it doesn't automatically mean that one of the author's who have never received an award will end up being chosen, but for me, it just feels like the right thing to do.
I have been known to make decisions, which are more from the heart than logical, but it just feels right to do.
I hope that I do not offend any of the readers who voted for me, by doing dropping out of this one category, but for me, there is so much more benefit to step back and hopefully allow someone else the opportunity of their very first Fan Fic Award. I will never forget what it meant the very first time that I won, and if I can do something which could enable another person a better chance of having that same feeling, then I have absolutely no problem in stepping out of this one.
I am going to send Jacky a PM, and I'm not sure if she can just add a note to the bottom of that category indicating I should NOT be considered, of if she can just remove me completely.
In any event, BEST OF LUCK to the remaining author's. I sure hope to see one of you smiling bright in the upcoming weeks at your very first award.
With much respect,

Chicki: My 1st reaction? oh well u r a bloody nuisance (lol) becuz???
I've already voted BUT having said that: well done ...what an honourable thing to do!!!
On my own track now:
I want to thank those who nominated two of my stories. The nominations are in themselves pleasing and recognition which I never expected when I got enthused to write.
I was inspired by my fav writers who are in the main still amongst my favs. altho I have added others to my list since I first joined the site. I was also inspired by the horribleness of s3 to come visit FanFic. I was sent here by a dear friend from the TiBette, Lu & Jennifer Threads elsewhere.
To all the writers you have given me hours of entertainment, BIG SHOUT OUT TO YOU.
Good fortune to all the nominees.
Just watched 'A House Divided'...great story...way to go JB.
Cheers. _________________ To love, to love, to love, even when the heart is exhausted (Jenny Beals, 2005) |

| No offense to anyone who has won more than once here, but I think a fan fic author shouldn't be nominated more than twice or win more than twice because they're other writers out there that deserve a chance too! Please consider this, it would be the best thing for everyone. |

Hey there
I think every writer should have an opportunity to be nominated but rather than not nominate previous winners howz about having something like a 'MASTER'S CATEGORY' for those who have won 2x or more in the same category only. Imo that would up the anti for those superb writers who like Chicki have won more than once...maybe present them with some GUIDELINES that they compete against one another with...just a wee thought....BUT first & foremost we have a lot of laughs, tears and sharing going on here and imo no one should be disadvantaged just because they write exquisitely...as a learner writer I have gained so much from the comments, PMs and support of these 'Master writers'...and I want them to continue sharing their superb story telling.
Plus there's another group of writer friends who maybe have not won awards but with whom I have shared thoughts, heartbreaks and ideas...I love your stories as you well know...
Also I wanted to say: I love this site because of the supportive community I found here. When I come home flat and busted from hours at the coal-mine (Figuratively) it is great to tune into like minds whose focus is LOVE....and many of you have shown me love...you know who you are...all those writers and non-writers who read silently and those who read leaving comments...I feel like I have a world of friends...You inspire me...and I really need that so a GREAT BIG THANK YOU.
Maybe we should float the idea of a FanFic writers' & Fans convention...not too soon because I'm broke and would have to travel so far to wherever unless you all troll down to the ends of the earth: NZ.
Love y'all ...have a great day or evening. _________________ To love, to love, to love, even when the heart is exhausted (Jenny Beals, 2005) |

The fan fiction awards are in their final form after, literally, years of revisions.
The ballot will not be changed after the finalists have been determined except in the case of finding a story that doesn't meet the criteria (date range and the like). We are not able to verify that each and every story matches the criteria, so if it is brought to our attention, we check that it should not be on the ballot, and then it is taken off the ballot. Thank you to those who help to verify the nominees. We appreciate the help.
Also, please note, that even though specific Chapter #s of a story are on the ballots for the final voting, the votes were tallied by *story*, not by chapter of story (except, of course for The Bomb and Unsung Heroes, which are tallied by author name, regardless of story or chapter).
The Fan Fic Awards are meant to be a thank you to writers to bring them recognition--and some fun. Our hope is they would be taken in the spirit in which they were created. There will be no further changes to the format of the awards, so please accept the awards, as is--the result of years of revisions. There will always be someone who disagrees with our decisions. That's human nature and life. There's no point beating a dead horse. Please do not post your personal preferences in this thread. This is not the place for it.
Have fun, and THANK YOU to the writers! _________________ Help support the site!
