Does anyone know if the show has been renewed? I heard a rumor that this was the last season - hope that's not true...

I'm hoping for a new season as well, but if they do quit this is a nice season to end with. I think this is the best season ever (with al the things to come in mind).

But NOOOOOOOO give us more!!!

Its not been officially announced but it looks like they are lining up the characters and guest stars.

Filming for season 6 would start in June so Showtime better announce quickly.

Honestly. I would only be interested in season 6 is Helena is in it. Otherwise I may catch it on reruns.

I'm so hooked up in this series that the thought that there won't be a sixth season and that we are 5 epis away from it being finished makes me feel kind of depressed Sad

I think the L word was groundbreaking in a lot of ways and I'll really miss pressing the play button and seeing women in love with each other without it having to be toned down or making me sit through hours of pointless plot points to get 30 seconds of some lesbian couple who don't even look like they are together.

On the other hand this season for me is delivering anything i could have asked for (ok, i could always have asked for more, curse my small thinking, lol) *cough* that i'm a bit afraid season 6 will mess stuff up.
I mean what are the chances that tina and bette actually stay a whole season together? Rolling Eyes

You know - I think Showtime & Ilene would be absolutely insane if they didn't commission Season 6!

They have become so involved in all kinds of labelling and merchandise with the jewellry, perfume, board games, card games, Ourchart... the list is endless.

A lot of these are fairly new partnerships which we could see running for a long time - and if there was no intention to run a Season 6, then I believe it has been hasty to become involved in so much 'outside' merchandise.

Also - with the writers strike - this has very probably been a heavy influence on whether there has been decisions made over a future season.

Another thing to add into the pot - when The L Word was originally commissioned - we heard so much about how a lotof the main stay characters had signed their '5 year contract' - if this is so - Showtime/Ilene will probably be having lots of contracts to renegotiate.

Apparently the viewing figures are up by 36% this season - Ilene - you got any idea why that might be???

We all love a good drama, and we know you are the Head Honcho - but I think this season of bringing the mainstay couple slowly back to one another has proved a massive point! Its what the majority of the viewers want to see.

Keep them going for another season please - it would be good to see Bette and Tina maintain a healthy relationship in this programme - funnily enough - there are a lot of lesbian couples in happy fulfilling relationships!

Showtime and Ilene - surely you know a good thing when its right under your nose?

My suggestion is this. If we want to see another season, then we need to flood the Showtime Message boards, and the OurChart with that very message.

From what I gather, IC put B&T back together, NOT so much because she was in agreement to, but because she had ALOT of pressure to do so from the network. Why? Based on the fact there was SO much feedback from the viewers, AND their discussions surrounding canceling their subscription to Showtime !!!!

Let's HOPE we see an announcement soon. If my memory serves me right, it was last year, around the second week of March that they made the formal announcement for a Season5.
